9/11 – Remembrance, Reflection & Resolve
Today marks the 24th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On that day, nearly 3,000 lives were lost, including many of our fellow Long Islanders, neighbors, and friends. We pause to honor their memory, to recognize the courage of the first responders who ran toward danger, and to reflect on the resilience of our nation in the days and years that followed.
While 9/11 was a moment of unimaginable loss, it also brought forth a spirit of unity that transcended backgrounds, beliefs, and differences. Communities like ours stood together, proving that in the face of adversity, compassion and solidarity can carry us forward.
As we remember this solemn anniversary, let us recommit ourselves to the mission of our civic association: “To improve the quality of life for the Hicksville community by encouraging community awareness, participation and civic pride.” By engaging with one another respectfully, fostering dialogue, and embracing civic responsibility, we honor the legacy of those we lost and help ensure Hicksville continues to be a place where neighbors care for one another.
We invite you to take this moment not only to reflect, but also to act—whether by volunteering your time, participating in civic life, or simply extending kindness to a neighbor. Each small act strengthens the bonds that hold our community together.
May this day of remembrance inspire us to live with empathy, purpose, and pride in the place we call home.

Celebrating Our Successful Annual Toy Drive!

We are thrilled to announce that our Annual Toy Drive was a tremendous success! Through Lee Avenue School, we were able to adopt 7 families and bring holiday cheer to 16 children through toys
and gift cards. Hopefully this will put a smile on their faces Christmas morning.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our members who donated. We would also like to extend a special thanks to R&R Dental and the Simonello Family, in collaboration with The Plaza Marine Group, for
their significant support in helping local Hicksville families.
We are incredibly grateful to Lee Avenue School for their continued partnership in identifying families in need and assisting with the distribution of gifts.
A big round of applause is due for our Community Service committee, chaired by Chris and Nick Mirro. Their tireless efforts, along with their daughter Michelle Humann, in shopping for toys and wrapping
presents were invaluable. We also thank Irene Guarasci for her extra set of hands for wrapping the record-setting number of gifts provided by the civic.
Wishing everyone a happy and safe holiday season! Your kindness and
generosity make a world of difference in our community.
Thank you!
Thanksgiving Food Drive

Thanks to the wondrous generosity of our members, we were able to provide a Thanksgiving dinner and much more to 5 families. A generous gift card was presented to each family to help them fill their pantries and table with food for the holiday season.
Thank you to all our members who sent in donations. Have a Happy & Healthy Thanksgiving!
