Some of you may have noticed a recent increase in people standing out on the median of the road in several locations, either selling fruit or panhandling. At times, this becomes a hazard as they step out into the roadway. Hicksville does not need another accident, or even worse, a fatality. The NCPD advises us that none of these people are in need—they are simply playing the heart strings of kind residents who believe they are doing a good deed. They do it because they are making really good money, and threat of arrest or bench warrant will not deter them. The best way to address this is to STOP GIVING THEM MONEY! If they do not get paid, they are guaranteed to go elsewhere. Please get the word out. If you don’t pay, they will go away. ... See MoreSee Less
