Community Service Scholarship

The HGCA has created the Hicksville Gardens Civic Association Community Service Scholarship
|
|
|
Two scholarships of $250 each will be awarded to graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to improving Hicksville through participation in community service activities.
|
|
|
|
Eligibility for these scholarships will be based upon the following criteria:
|

|
The student must be graduating from high school and have demonstrated a commitment to improving Hicksville through leadership and participation in community service activities.
|
|
|

2.
|
|
Preference will be given to students whose families are members of and live within the area of the HGCA (south of Old Country Road, west of South Oyster Bay Road, east of Jerusalem Avenue and north of Bloomingdale and Scooter Roads).
|

|
|
|
3.
|
|
Student must be accepted into and attend a two or four year accredited college, university or trade school.
|
|
|
|
|
|
4.
|
|
No minimum grade point average is required, but a solid academic record is a plus.
|
|
|
|
5.
|
|
Financial need is not required.
|
|
|
|
6.
|
|
The student must complete and sign an application.
|
|
|
|
7.
|
|
A one page essay, double-spaced, explaining the student’s reasons for seeking this scholarship is a plus.
|
|
|
|
|
|
8.
|
|
A letter of recommendation from a teacher or community leader that can attest to the student’s community service is also a plus.
