News & Info
There are now permanent Radar Speed Signs installed on poles by the
Middle School on Jerusalem Avenue to monitor vehicle speeds.
Although the normal speed limit on Jerusalem Avenue is 40 mph,
the speed limit by the school between 7 am - 6 pm is only 25 mph!
The signs are the result of a safety crusade by the Hicksville Middle School PTSA and Assemblyman Rob
Walker who secured the funding for the project.

Loitering Issue Resolved
at "Hicksville Curves"
At the beginning of June 2009 the fitness center "Hicksville Curves" located at 319 Jerusalem Avenue was
experiencing a problem with occupied autos and youths loitering in the parking.  Drinking, passing "small
white stuff" and urinating in the lot were some of the reported problems.

A coordinated effort between HGCA Block Captains Ardie Zobian and Tom McGovern and both the
Nassau County 8th Precinct POP and Auxiliary Police seems to have eliminated the problems.

HGCA Spring Clean Up - 2009
Members of the HGCA were out on 2
occassions this spring cleaning up our civic
area.

One of the projects involved decorating the
"Welcome To Hicksville" sign at our newly
adopted site at
South Broadway and South Oyster Bay Road.

We would like to thank Lowe's for their $200
donation that was used for mulch, peat moss
and junipers.  We wish them long lasting
success and look forward to working with
them in the future.

Hicksville Gardens Oil Consortium
The HGCA will again provide an oil consortium with a heating oil supplier.
The negotiated agreement for this year’s membership is as follows:
Each member will receive a twenty cent (.20c) per gallon discount through June 30, 2010.
The discount is calculated using the daily posted price of oil per gallon.
Each member is guaranteed that they will not pay more than $2.699 per gallon for heating oil
through June 30, 2010.  This is based on a cap of the daily posted price of $2.899 per gallon.
Each member will receive a one year free service contract through June 30, 2010.
Please note that this is a comprehensive contract unlike most other contracts.  If you have a leak in a
basement/indoor oil tank you are covered in full for a replacement.  Also, all "water handling parts"
of your boiler are covered in full.
Red Light Cameras  are now currently installed and
operational at the following 3 intersections in Hicksville:
  • Old Country Road  &  Jerusalem Avenue

  • Old Country Road  &  Broadway

  • Old Country Road  &  South Oyster Bay Road
