News & Info
There are now permanent Radar Speed Signs installed on poles by the
Middle School on Jerusalem Avenue to monitor vehicle speeds.
Although the normal speed limit on Jerusalem Avenue is 40 mph,
the speed limit by the school between 7 am - 6 pm is only 25 mph!
The signs are the result of a safety crusade by the Hicksville Middle School PTSA and Assemblyman Rob
Walker who secured the funding for the project.

Loitering Issue Resolved
at "Hicksville Curves"
At the beginning of June 2009 the fitness center "Hicksville Curves" located at 319 Jerusalem Avenue was
experiencing a problem with occupied autos and youths loitering in the parking.  Drinking, passing "small
white stuff" and urinating in the lot were some of the reported problems.

A coordinated effort between HGCA Block Captains Ardie Zobian and Tom McGovern and both the Nassau
County 8th Precinct POP and Auxiliary Police seems to have eliminated the problems.

Rat Problem?
Some residents have reported rat sightings in their neighborhood.  A recent outbreak can be
the aftermath of major construction in the area or due to other reasons.

This is a reminder that the Nassau County Department of Health responds to the public's
concerns regarding rodent activity.  Inspectors will identify food sources and other factors
that attract rodents to a property.  If extermination is deemed necessary, the property owner
will be directed to either self-exterminate using products obtained at local retail stores or
hire a NYS licensed exterminator at their own expense.
If rats are sighted on a property, you may contact:
