Next General Meeting - Thursday, April 12th, 2012 at 7pm - Nassau County Presentation On The Sale Of Sewage Treatment Plants ~ HGCA Budget Presentation ~ Nomination of Officers ~ Community Issue Updates.

On December 20, 2011 the NYS Supreme Court rendered a
decision in favor of Darshan Bagga and allows for the
development of the property located at 594 So. Broadway
(at Gerald Avenue - formerly TJ Courtney's Restaurant) to
include apartments over stores at the location.

The HGCA has been opposed to a motel and/or appartments
at the location and has had the Town's support however the
NYS Supreme Court has ruled against our stand.

Discussions will be held within the Block & Board to
determine if any further action can be taken.  Any
interested persons are asked to contact the HGCA by email:
info@hgcivic.org   or call:  (516) 499-8207.

Track Repairs - New South Road
The HGCA contacted the LIRR about the deteriorated and hazardous condition of the railroad crossing at New
South Road and was advised that they will repair the tracks in September 2012.  The project will take about three
weeks to complete.  The overall street grading at the location contributes to a bumpy ride over the crossing and
we are in the process of trying to coordinate the track repair by the LIRR and a re-grading project with the
Town of Oyster Bay.  We are hoping for a smooth ride upon completion.
HGCA Planting Project
On May 18, 2011 Beautification Committee Chairman Frank Guarasci and members of his "Green
Team", Phil Heckler and Nick Mirro, purchased nearly $300 worth of new bushes and planted them on
the So. Broadway median across from Miyako Hibachi & Sushi Restaurant.

Great Job "Green Team"!
